1) Dot-COM, dot-ORG, dot-Net. What about dot-TXT ?

Bob Zurek over at IBM suggests a .TXT top-level-domain. The idea is that
web sites using such a domain name would only contain textual data. ie
none of the Flash , animation, sound effects, and graphics that clutter up
the modern day web pages.

I like what the idea is trying to accomplish. ie a lower-bandwidth web
experience that lets me get the informational content I want without all of
the garbage that clutters up web pages these days.

I don't believe the reason we have a high-bandwith web culture is a lack of
a top-level-domain. I think the reason is that the people who create web
pages do not see value in having a web-site with fewer flashy gee-whiz
animations. The flashy gee-whiz factor is how several companies make money.
