July 25, 2007 :
1) My trip to the Calgary Science Centre today.

There are a lot of neat things to see and play with. We did not get to see
everything. I suspect that might be related to having a 5 year old and a 3
year old to look after. I did get to lie on a bed of nails. I could feel
the tips of the nails on my shoulder blades but it didn't really hurt.

There was some ferrofluid. I was thinking of buying some a while ago but
have too much clutter.

There were a lot of children. It seems possible to me that in many cases
they enjoyed running around more than playing with the displays. I suppose
they might still be a bit too young or not have the attention to be asking
about exhibits. For example there was a wall that changed colour from the
heat of their hands yet the kids seemed more interested in running up stairs.

Parking was slightly strange. You have to insert coins until the desired
amount of time is covered and place the ticket on the dash. I thought
three hours would be enough time but had to go back and purchase more.

2) Time off work.

I am taking a couple days to visit friends from out of town. I hope to get
some time to read. I just started reading Thomas Kuhn's "The Structure of
Scientific Revolutions". This 1962 book coined the term "paradigm shift".
The term seems to have been over-used ever since then.
