1) Trout raised in a hatchery are not very able to reproduce.
The CBC article reads:
Oregon State University researchers found the reproductive success of
trout, a species critical to many healthy aquatic ecosystems, drops by
close to 40 per cent for every generation they spend in a hatchery.
...
The finding raises concerns over restocking programs around the world
that rely on hatchery-raised fish to re-establish healthy numbers of
top-predator fish and keep the aquatic food chain in balance.
2) Jeff Bonforte says anger leads to innovation.
The MP3 is on IT Conversations. The talk is amusing. His thesis is that
people are driven to solve problems because of anger. For example VOIP and
Asterisk have show growth in popularity because because people are angry at
dealing with phone companies.
3) Guy Kawasaki talks about innovation.
The MP3 is on IT Conversations. This talk is entertaining. For example
he tells stories of people asking for funding to make what seem like stupid
products. There seems to be some useful advice like use large fonts and do
not use many slides in your power-point-presentations.
