February 15, 2008 :
1) Aspartame experiment by Victoria Inness-Brown

Note: There are some graphic pictures of rats with tumors and skin lesions
on the pages of the following site.

Aspartame is used in "diet" products and is also sold under the names
NutraSweet and Equal.

There is a summary of an aspartame study done by a private individual at
http://www.myaspartameexperiment.com/ .

The rats were fed less aspartame by body mass than a human consuming one
diet-coke per day their entire life. The rats lived until natural death.

This summary indicates some of the 60 control rats developed large tumors,
eye problems, paralyzed legs, and skin lesions.

The site has a compelling visual impact but I would have liked to see a
chart that listed each medical problem and how many rats in each sub-group
(male/female, aspartame/control) developed the problem.

If the site and the study are legitimate the results are interesting. I
only say this because all I know about it is what I found on that website.
